Möbel Staude in Hannover wins the Carpet Star 2023 for its
exemplary furniture-store carpet department
Professional advice in a feel-good atmosphere
Carpets are an essential part of living at Mö- bel Staude, where visitors to the furniture store find products for every taste and budget, including special individual pieces. Björn Kühne
2 has earned a Carpet Star as manager of a carpet department of excellence within the furniture- store run by the Staude family in Lower Saxony.
Kühne’s realm begins just a few steps away from the store entrance – it’s no trek for customers to get to the carpet section on the ground floor. Cus- tomers get an especially good feeling upon enter- ing that section of the store, which is down to the man overseeing it, who has been with the com- pany for over 26 years and is a trained carpet retail manager. We do however have a few excep- tions regarding manual production, like our new machine-woven rugs from Turkey, which are very fine and of high quality.” Products in the entry-level price segment are located in the centre of the section, where customers can find promotions and discounted individual items. The product range includes carpeting, which customers can have laid upon request, or buy made to measure in custom dimensions with edging.
Painstakingly done bazaar scenery and decor create variety for shoppers’ gaze, which may wander from the carpet stacks over to a glass display case holding fragments of antique rugs that bear witness to the venerable history of the craft. Customers find uniformly framed infor- mation materials here and there on the produc- tion materials used, as well as practical furnish- ing tips.
In a furniture store it is easy enough to arrange appealing interior scenes, which, if artfully done, will catch the eye: such as a sofa with cof- fee table, armchair with side table and lamp or a six-chair dining table – always with the right carpet underfoot. Such real-world contexts al- low customers to better experience carpets, their proportions and their look and effect on a
