   A new Working area was added next to the existing Dining, Living and Giving themes at Ambiente – rich with ideas for modern work environments. The Future of Work section was particularly of interest, where the workplace was re-interpreted as a place for interaction and social communication. Co-working spaces were also focused on as a rising form of flexible and mobile office working.
Sustainability was also a focus, in response to increasing consumer interest. According to the think tank and research organization Zukunft- sinstitut, sustainability considerations are be- coming decisive purchasing criteria. “Globally, more than 70% of people still prefer to shop in stores. retailers. It is important for industry players to view developments through the eyes of the con- sumer, prepare and react swiftly,” finds Theresa Schleicher, futurologist and retail expert at the Zukunftsinstitut.
Rounding out the trade fair as an event was a broad programme of special presentations, lectures, workshops and guided tours focusing on key meta-topics like sustainability, the new work paradigm, design, lifestyle, future of retail and digital expansion of trade.
Going forward, Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld will continue to be held simulta- neously at Frankfurt Exhibition Centre.
