Old Oriental Rug Art Theko – Theo Keller Satar Carpet
DOMOTEX 2023
products in the classic, oriental colours but rather items in elegant earth tones, often with a creative colour element and surprising pat- tern variants lending them new relevance. Modern knotted carpets from Nepal and India were mainly found with importers and whole- salers offering catalogue programs, such as Theo Keller, Nordsüd, OCI and Barfuss.
There is evident demand for bold, high-quality alternatives to machine-made furniture-store carpets. This is favourable for hand-woven car- pets, making them an indispensable part of any modern carpet assortment. Austrian specialist
Tisca was on hand representing this product group.
With hand-made carpets the designs are mov- ing in two directions, in a similar trend as with machine-woven. On the one hand: single col- ours and restrained all-over patterns in warm white and natural tones ranging between beige and brown; on the other: bold motifs in bright colours with a spontaneous appeal.

  Bahram Tahbaz accepted the EUCA-Award
to promote oriental rugs as a cultural asset. The AICE serves as point of contact and intermediary for tra- ders, producers and politicians in both the country of origin and in Germany. It was during those years that efforts were made to establish the Iran National Carpet Centre as a separate Iranian carpet ministry.
“A modest and placid man, Bahram Tahbaz was ti- relessly energetic when it came to carpets – he did a lot for the industry, and for Persian rugs in particular. We all owe Mr Tahbaz a great debt of gratitude for his selfless dedication. His lifetime accomplishments for the carpet trade are second to none,” Dr. Ipektchi concluded.
personally from EUCA President Dr. Ali Ipektchi.
