Carpet Retailers of the Year
Carpet Home has restarted the Carpet Stars after a two-
year break, presenting the coveted awards to retailers with business practices and sales concepts that are exemplary for others in the industry. At this year’s awards ceremony in Hall 2, Star winners were named in four categories:
• Exemplary carpet store: Belle Carpets & Rugs (DK) • Exemplary carpet department: Möbel Staude (D) • Exemplary online retailer: Benuta (D)
• Exemplary multi-channel retailer:
Carpet Lounge Berlin (D)
A special lifetime achievement award was presented to carpet logistics veteran Klaus-Peter Köster of Hamburg. The award winners are presented in detail starting on page 76 of this issue of Carpet Home.
Zimmer Austria
It was noticeable how there were significantly fewer exhibitors of area rugs at Domotex 2023 than back in 2020, yet the visitors and exhibi- tors together transported a very positive vibe throughout the carpet halls. Visitor quality was very high, in that top-level decision-makers de- scended on Hannover in spite of the troubled global economy. Many exhibitors reported sig- nificant business with new customers. The de- cline in the number of visitors was likely due to the absence of smaller retailers and sales per- sonnel. The change in days, having Sunday as the last fair day, certainly played a role.

As before, machine-woven carpets are highly important, both economically and in terms of
